Redstained

You said you were afraid give the truth
because you're afraid of being judged
and that meant nothing to me
as I, too, have much to answer for.

You said you'd given me the weapons
to manipulate and to destroy
and that meant nothing to me
as I, too, laid them all before you.

You told me you were not ready
not yet ready to give in
and that meant nothing to me
as I've been waiting all my life.

Without knowing, you gave me everything
I held it so close an so tight
it stained me red, forever.
And that meant everything.
